The Oncology Nurses chapter came about as an initiative of a team of Oncology and Palliative care Nurses spearheaded by a team of their prime sponsors Roche Pharmaceuticals. The team met and felt that like other professionals involved in cancer care, Nurses needed to take a major role as a big percentage of health care is done by a Nurse.
The chapter was launched during the 56th National Nurses Association of Kenya (NNAK) Annual Scientific Conference/ AGM which was held on October 2014 at Eldoret-Uasin Gishu County. The main objective of the chapter is to empower Nurses, patients with cancer together with their families with the requisite knowledge and skills to promote the highest standards of cancer care.
